Constellation was a 12ft x 6ft (approximate) graphite wall drawing that represented the results of a social survey of the creative connections between musical artists in Charlottetown PEI, 2011. 65 artists were asked to provide a list of their “creative connections.” No limit on list size or medium of creative connection was given, and each respondent was left to construct their list according to their own interpretation of the question: “who are you creative connections?”
Over 3000 connections were made within the Charlottetown creative community. The final presentation of the survey answers resulted in a hand drawn, organic web of interconnected lines and names, resembling the process of quantitative charting yet maintaining an ephemeral or fleeting capture of a moment within a community.
This work was included in the group exhibition Warming Up, curated by Pan Wendt – presented at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery 2011.
